Racing Commission and Horsemen's Meetings Set for Next Week, February 24 and 25, 2010

The State Board of the NMHA will meet at the Sunland Park Horsemen's office on February 24, 2010 beginning at 10:00 for its monthly meeting.  All Horsemen are invited to attend this meeting. 


The Sunland Park track safety committee will meet  on Thursday, February 24 at 11:00 AM in the Monte Cristo Rey room at Sunland Park.  The Commmittee will discuss any safety issues that have to do with the Sunland Park Race Track and the backside.  All Horsemen are invited to attend this meeting and provide your input.

The Rules Committee of the New Mexico Racing Commission will meet at the Monte Cristo Rey Room at Sunland Park at 3:00 PM on February 24, 2010. The tentative agenda calls for discussion and possible action on the following topics that will affect Horsemen:

A. Clenbuterol Testing
B. Equine Ambulance
C. Necropsy/Post Mortem Examination of Horses that perish during racing and or training
D.  Discussion of gate approvals at racetracks and training centers  where racing is not occuring
E.  Jock Mount Fee's  (The Racing Commissioners International has proposed a schedule of jock mount fees to apply to all jurisdictions in the US)
F.  Out of competition testing ( testing of horses by the Commission that are not actively racing at a racetrack)
G.  Running of the race
H.  Weigh ins for jocks
I.  Scale of Weights

Be sure to attend this meeting and have your voice heard.  Each of the listed issues coming up for discussion and action will have an effect on racing in New Mexico. 

The Racing Commission will have its open meeting at Sunland Park on February 25, 2010 commencion at 10:30 AM in the Monte Cristo Rey Room.  The above topics and others will be on the agenda. Please attend this meeting and be heard.
