Update for Horsemen

As you all know, the NM Racing Commission issued racing dates for 2010. The racing calender for 2010 is as follows:

2009 New Mexico Race Dates

Sunland Park: December 11, 2009 to April 20, 2010. (77 days total) Fri, Sat, Sun, Tues.

Sunray Park: April 22, 2010 to July 4, 2010 (46 days) Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun. (+2 days from 2009)

Racing at Raton (La Mesa Park): May 28, 2010 to September 6, 2010 (60 days) Days of week to be determined by the NMRC

Ruidoso Downs: May 28, 2010 to September 6, 2010 (60 days) Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun.

Downs at Abq:___________, 2010 to November _____, 2010 (42 days)
(Waiting on official days from the NMRC. Will post when available)
New Mexico State Fair: September 10, 2010 to September 26, 2010 (17 days straight)

ZIA Park: September 11, 2010 to December 7, 2010 (53 days) Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues. (- 2 days from 2009)

(Minus two days over 2009 Ruidoso race dates not considered) With Raton, 357 total days of racing awarded by the NMRC



Progress at Raton: Progress at the new race track in Raton is slow. They are moving earth. According to their owner, they expect to have a temporary facility up by February 2010 for simulcasting and 200 slot machines. They plan to have a barn area, race track, and general backside area up by April 28, 2010 (30 days before racing is set to start). La Mesa Park was awarded 60 days of racing for 2010. The NMHA is carefully monitoring the progress at Raton and will issue updates. La Mesa Park will submit its construction plan for approval by the NMRC at the upcoming September 24, 2009 meeting at Albuquerque.

Clenbuterol: The NMRC recently enacted levels for clenbuterol testing. Effective September 15th, 2009, the levels are 5 ng. in urine. If the level is over, blood confirmation must be conducted. Blood levels are set at 0.5 ng. Please consult with your vet regarding doses and withdrawal times. Any violations of the rule calls for a class 3 sanction. (60 days to 180 days suspension, up to $1,500 fine, loss of purse)
