CONGRATULATIONS!!

    Congratulations to trainer and New Mexico Horsemen Chip Woolley and the connections of Mine That Bird,winner of the 2009 Kentucky Derby Winner! Mr. Woolley trained thoroughbred Mine that Bird for owners Mark Allen ( Double Eagle Ranch of Roswell, N.M) and Dr. Leonard Blach (Buena Suerte Equine in Roswell) to a rousing win at the Run for the Roses on May 2nd.

    Mine That Bird, a 50 to 1 longshot came from dead last to run past Pioneer of the Nile and win by a 6 and 3/4 length margin, the largest win margin in the Kentucky Derby since 1946.     

    Mine That Bird was ridden by jockey Calvin Borel and was bred by
Lamantia, Blackburn & Needham/Betz Thoroughbreds in Kentucky. This was Borel's second derby win.
