Toe Grab Rule

Note for Horsemen:

On Wednesday, April 15, 2009 the NM Racing Commission will meet to consider among other things possible action regarding the  present toe grab rule.  This action will affect the racing quarter horse only. We expect that the NMRC will suspend the height limit on the toe grabs for racing quarter horses from the present 4 mm and allow toes grabs of  6mm or possibly higher to be used.  Once the NMRC takes its anticipated action we will provide notice to Horsemen with postings at the track, on the overnights,  on the website and through word of mouth.  If you have any questions or comments about this anticipated change you may reach me at 505.266.7056 (office),  505.205.6650  (cell) or at www.newmexicohorsemen.com.   This anticipated change will  only apply to the front shoes on racing quarter horses. The toe grab height for Tbs will remain at 2mm.

Sincerely,

Pat Bingham for the NMHA

PS:  Please don’t make any changes until AFTER the NMRC makes its anticipated decision.
