New Bills in the NM Legislature

The following bills have started their course through the New Mexico Legislature this session:

Workers' Compensation:  A bill that would require workers' compensation  for farm and ranch workers has been proposed.  The bill if passed and signed into law could require New Mexico Horsemen to maintain workers' compensation insurance for their workers.  Currently  farmers and ranchers in New Mexico are not required to maintain  workers' compensation insurance for their employees.  Please comment on this proposed legislation.  Your input is important so that we can let our legislators know what our position on this proposed legislation is.  Call us at 505.266.7056 or send an e-mail to Kirsten Romney at kirsten.nmha@yahoo.com.  In the next day or so will will add particulars of the proposed bill including the name, address and phone number of its author to this site.

Background checks for Racing Commissioners:  A bill requiring background checks for nominees for Racing Commissioner has been proposed.  This bill would affect the process of selecting individuals to serve as Racing Commissioners.  We need to know your thoughts on this proposed legislation.  Call us at 505.266.7056 or e-mail us at kirsten.nmha@yahoo.com with your comments and state whether you support this proposed legislation.
