Update For Horsemen
Through our affiliation with the National HPBA, New Mexico Horsemen will now have access to quality accident and dental insurance through Aflac Insurance Company. The cost for accident insurance through Aflac is $28.10 per month. The insurance pays cash to individuals who suffer accidental injury and who seek medical care. Dental Insurance is also available to NMHA Members at a discounted cost of $30.00 per person per month. The insurance covers most procedures and pays according to a schedule of payments. The Aflac representatives will be at the Sunland Park Horsemen's Office from February 19th to February 22 to answer questions from the Horsemen and sign anyone up anyone who wishes to purchase the insurance . Stephen Drake, Investigations Manager of the NMRC has been assigned to standardize and moniter racing surface policy for the New Mexico Horse Racing Tracks. If you have any suggestions for how to improve track conditions and standards, call Mr. Drake at 505 222 0707, or the Horsemen's Office at 505 266 7056.
On Thursday, February 12, the New Mexico Racing Commision will hold a meeting in which they will adopt Rule 15.2.6.9 (C) NMAC Medication Restrictions: Androgenic-Anabolic Steroids. This rule will regulate the administration and level of androgenic-anabolic steroids in a horse that is racing in New Mexico. The executive session will begin at 9 am and will be immediately followed by the public session.
