ZIA Park Racetrack and Black Gold Casino will commence their meet on September 13th with a new rule on toe grabs: Beginning October first, there will be a two millimeter limit on front toe grabs for thoroughbreds that are racing, and a four millimeter front toe grab limit on quarter horses who race. We wish all participants the best of luck and a successful meet for ZIA.


The Medication and Rules Committee of the NMRC are meeting on September 17th. Location and times will be posted as soon as they are made available. The NMRC  is holding its general meeting on September the 18th, beginning at 9:30 am (Public meeting) at the NMRC offices in Albuquerque. Horsemen are all encouraged to attend.

The NMHA will also hold its regular monthly meeting on September 17th, commencing at 10 am, Horsemen are encouraged to attend the meeting, which will be held at our office at 217 Palomas NE in Albuquerque. For more information call 266 7056.


Congratulations to Stolis Winner on his victory in The All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs. Stolis Winner was ridden by jockey G.R Carter Jr. and is owned by Jerry Windham and trained by Heath Taylor. Congratulations are also in order for the connections of Jet Black Patriot and Jess Zooming, who finished second and third respectively.
